The end of the year and the beginning of the next, is a time of profound rest to allow our reproductive and endocrine systems to build and repair themselves, a time to avoid becoming bone weary, exhausted.  Winter is a time of hearty soups and stews, salty foods, to help balance the water and dampness in our bodies.  Foods which are roasted, baked for longer periods of time, help to support our kidneys and bladder—deeply nourishing them.
